For the title of the magazine I came up with a few different names all relating to the subject of music. I analysed them individually, and then asked 20 people from the target audience which name they think would best suit a new music magazine.
Here are the names I came up with:
- Symphony; I think that this name works well because when you hear it you cant help but to think of music, however symphony often implies classical music and orchestras which doesnt fit my music magazine at all.
- Tunin' in; Again this name works really well for a music magazine, it makes you think of a radio and listening. Also the way it is spelt makes it slightly edgy and appealing to a young demographic.
- Harmonized; like symphony, harmonized is all about being together, simultaeously. it makes people think of music however for the magazine I need a name that shows that the bands have individuality because that is what people are attracted to.
- Amplified; making something amplified is about making it big and louder which really fits in with my magazine, it could also be connotated as taking a deeper/closer look into the music and the bands.
- Solo; in musical terms this means a peice or section sung or played by a single performer which would be a great name for a magazine that focused on individual artists rather than bands and groups too.
After analysing the names and thinking about the connotaions of each I have some idea of the name prefer, however to get a deffinite answer it would be best to ask some people in my target audience what name they prefer.
Here are the results:
I am very pleased with the result as I thought Amplified would be a perfect name for a new music magzine and it has a ll the right connotations.
